Research interests: 
 Development of methodological and technological foundations for increasing the productivity of modern horticulture, based on more advanced methods of planning and conducting research, contemporary technologies for growing seedlings and fruit plantations, new approaches to planting material quality, and techniques for selecting the most suitable regions for industrial production of pome, stone fruit, and berry crops and varieties, in which they can fully realize their biological potential.
 He developed the technological foundations for distributing fruit crops by region in Ukraine and a method for assessing the realization of a species' (or variety's) biological potential under specific conditions. He systematized the soil and climatic conditions of the main fruit-growing zones according to their suitability for industrial fruit and berry production.
 Determining priority tasks and measures for the development and efficient functioning of the horticultural industry. Scientific support for the regional development of the agro-industrial complex.

PhD thesis topic:  "Application of Herbicides in Stone Fruit Nurseries"  (Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, specialization – Fruit Growing, 1988, Belarusian Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Farming)

Brief biographical note:
Born on March 7, 1952, in the village of Fedorivka, Volodarskyi district, Donetsk region.
 In 1974, he graduated with honors from the Kostyantynivka Agricultural College in the Donetsk region, and in 1979, from the Fruit and Vegetable Faculty of the Uman Agricultural Institute.
 Since March 1979, he has been working at the Institute of Horticulture of the NAAS. During his career, he has held positions of senior agronomist, junior researcher, and senior researcher in the Nursery Department, head of the Laboratory of Informatics and Patent Studies, and head of the Information Support Department.
 From 1997 to 2013, he served as Deputy Director for Research; from 2013 to 2014, he was Executive Director of the Institute of Horticulture of NAAS; from 2014 to 2024, he was First Deputy Director; and since 2024, he has been Acting Director of the Institute.
 He chaired the Institute's Methodological Commission (1997–2013) and has been a member of the Academic Council since 1988.
 He was awarded the academic title of Professor in 2007.
 In 2016, he was elected a Corresponding Member of the NAAS, and in 2023, a Full Member (Academician) of the NAAS.

Participation in International and National Projects:
Since 2000, Mykola O. Bublyk has been a member of the International Association on Mechanization and Research Methodology (IAMFE).

Awards and Honors
Awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for outstanding service to the Ukrainian people, the Honorary Distinction of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine,  and Honorary Diplomas from the Southern Branch of VASKhNIL(All-Union Lenin Academy of Agricultural Sciences) and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Public Activities
In 2018, with the direct participation of M.O. Bublyk, Technical Committee No. 179 "Products of Orchards, Vineyards, and Winemaking" was established. He serves as the Head of the Subcommittee "Orchard Products" within this committee.
For over twenty years, he has served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief and, since 2019, as Editor-in-Chief of the professional, interdepartmental scientific journal "Sadivnytstvo" (Horticulture).
Since July 2000, M.O. Bublyk has been a member of the International Association on Mechanization and Research Methodology (IAMFE).
From 2008 to 2012, he chaired the Expert Council on Agronomy and Forestry of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine and currently serves as an expert of the Expert Council on Agronomy and Forestry under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
For more than ten years, he has been a member of specialized academic councils for defending PhD and doctoral theses in the specialty 06.01.07 – Fruit Growing.
